Animal Planet’s captivating documentary series shows the story of Sea Shepherd and their yearly conflict with the Japanese whaling industry in the Southern Ocean. It’s high drama on the high seas, with several vessels of different sizes, speeds and purposes, a rotating cast of passionate activists, and sometimes risky direct-action maneuvers. Out on the open water near Antarctica, the harsh conditions present challenging situations for capturing the enormity of the impacts, waves, storms and swells, not to mention overcoming the noise inherent in such hostile environments.
